Follow safety norms while visiting St Mary's Island

Udupi district administration has urged the tourists visiting St Mary’s Island to strictly follow the safety guidelines.

Tourists, who visit St Mary’s Island from Malpe beach and Malpe port should wear safety gear in the boat. Tourists will not be allowed to travel without the safety gear in the boat. Further, the boat should not ferry more than its capacity. The public can submit a complaint against the boat owners flouting the rules. Plastic carry bags/products are banned on the island, Udupi Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis said.

The tourists can take food items in tiffin boxes made of metal. If anyone carries more vessels then they will be asked to pay a fee.

Only pet bottles to carry drinking water is allowed, the DC added.

Tourists can contact boat owners 9886415479, 9986448575 from Malpe beach and 8951081207, 9845354325 from Malpe Port to ferry them to the St Mary’s island.

If the tourists face any problem on the island by the staff, they can lodge a complaint to Malpe Development Committee Manager (9964024177), she added.
