Graduates are backbone of countries: Japanese prof

University of Miyazaki, Japan, President, Prof Dr Tsuyomu Ikenoue said future development of countries is associated with key concepts of education, globalisation and economic competencies from which the set of national development index is determined.

Delivering convocation address at the Nitte Deemed to be University on Saturday, he said, “Today’s graduates are tomorrow’s backbone of the country. They are the templates for future national development. Global education has many compartments, like the demographic system, knowledge exchange, appearance of new information and communication and so on. In Japan, we follow the research-based intensive educational paradigm with creative knowledge approach system.”

He said the higher the proportion of creative leaders in the medical field, the higher will be the potential for success in the advances in diagnosis, treatment and research for discovering new avenues in health care.

Prof Ikenoue said Mangaluru is blessed with 3E systems (Education, entrepreneurs and ecology) and added that the Nitte university is striving ahead in all 3Es.

He the policies of the Government of India help the progress of young and dynamic students and motivate them to spread their wings towards developed countries for higher education and research. Accordingly, more students are enrolling in University of Miyazaki, Japan. India has a bright potential as the destination for higher education, he noted.

He called upon the graduates to take a pledge to serve their profession better, parents, alma-mater, country and mother nature.
Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) degree was awarded to Ashok Leyland Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Vinod K Dasari.

Degrees were given to students of 14 undergraduate courses, 46 postgraduate courses and a super speciality course in Medical M Ch Urology apart from doctoral programmes in the faculties of Medicine Dental Science, Pharmacy, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Biological Sciences, Allied Health Sciences and Humanities.

Nitte Deemed to be University Chancellor N Vinay Hegde presided over the convocation ceremony.
