Grotto issue: Video of CI warning miscreants goes viral

A video clip of Bantwal Circle Inspector T D Nagaraj issuing a stern warning to those stirring unrest in the backdrop of demolition of a shrine with Grotto of Our Lady of Velankanni at Kulalu Kuntrakala has gone viral on social media.

In the video clip, the circle inspector is seen asserting, “There is hate among both the communities. The amount of respect and reverence Hindus have for Koragajja, Christians too have for the Grotto and Muslims for Masjid, which needs to be understood first. We Khakhi men look at everything equally and learn to act as according to the law of the land. It is wrong to construct and demolish anything illegally on a government land. Any issue on disputed land should be brought to the notice of tahsildar and the deputy commissioner.”

He has accused the communities of creating unnecessary confusions.

Later, he is seen warning his audience not to sow any seeds of hate. “We have received grievances from both groups. Respect and follow the law. The government will amicably solve the dispute over the land. If you try to create any disturbances, we will be forced to unleash your strength,” he warned.
