13 die as rain wreak havoc on north, east

At least eight people were buried alive under the debris following massive landslides triggered by incessant rain in Arunachal Pradesh. Upper Siang district remained cut off after a vital bridge connecting the area with other places was badly damaged due to flash floods and landslides.

One person drowned and around 1.5 lakh people affected in the flash floods which hit the northern Assam districts of Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Golaghat and Sonitpur following incessant rain in the upper reaches.

In worst-hit Lakhimpur district, a man was drowned in the swollen Sesa river after it broke its right bank dyke flooding 30 villages and affecting around 15,000 people.

Meanwhile, in Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh, one woman and three children died when their house collapsed over them.
