AIADMK supporters rejoice

After the counting of postal ballots, even as the first round results began to flash on various TV channels showing the AIADMK’s race ahead of its main rival, the DMK,  the partymen gathered at the AIADMK headquarters started to celebrate.

The party cadres’ joy knew no bounds when Sun TV close to their political rival DMK also started  flashing the AIADMK leads.  Almost simultaneously, hundreds of other party cadres swiftly moved towards AIADMK supremo J Jayalalitha’s residence at Poes Garden.  Braving the scorching sun,  the crowds surged and almost bombarded the huge iron gates of  Jayalalitha’s residence.

But noon, the shift of power was clear as the first set of senior-most IPS and IAS officers came with a variety of colourful bouquets to congratulate ‘Amma’ on her big victory. 

As the crowds got bigger outside her residence, Jayalalitha  made an appearance on her first floor balcony and waved to the crowds, showing the AIADMK’s ‘Two leaves’ symbol.
