Arun Jaitley's website hacked

Bharatiya Janata Party leader Arun Jaitley’s official website was allegedly hacked by a Pakistan-based hacker on Saturday. A case has been filed with the Delhi Police after Jaitley complained to Delhi Police Commissioner Bhim Sain Bassi.

The Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha told police that his website—www.arunjaitley.com—was hacked. A screenshot of the website after the hacking has been provided to the investigating officers.

“I am bringing this to your notice for information and any action if needed,” stated Jaitley in his complaint to police.

Sources close to the management of the website said “a Pakistan-based hacker” has been accused of the deed by Jaitley due to a Pakistani flag shown on the website. “A note was also spotted on the website which advised the Bharatiya Janata Party to support the Aam Aadmi Party in the upcoming Lok Sabha and state Assembly elections,” a source told Deccan Herald.

The website, maintained and managed by Abeer Media, was kept unavailable by authorities for over a day, during which the Pakistan flag and the message were removed. “We informed the police as soon as the hacking came to light. As it is a dynamic website, we also tried our best to make it available to the public as soon as possible,” added the source.

On the basis of Jaitley’s complaint, a case under Sections 66 and 66A of the Information Technology Act was lodged against unknown persons with the Delhi Police’s economic offences wing police station on Sunday.
