<p>QUB, which has close links with Indian universities and is involved in India-centric research, said Kalam will be conferred the DUniv degree on June 10.<br /><br />The university said: "Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, who served from 2002 to 2007, will receive a doctorate for public service.<br /><br />"He is a distinguished engineer and is considered a progressive mentor, innovator and visionary in India, believing in the power of science to resolve society's problems.<br /><br />"Popularly known as the 'People's President', Dr Kalam has educated and inspired others as a scientist, teacher, researcher, statesman and poet," it said.<br /><br />Kalam is also scheduled to address students, academics and practitioners at the University of Cambridge's Judge Business School on June 9.</p>
