<p class="title">In a brazen display of power, a BJP MLA from Banda district of Uttar Pradesh, on Tuesday barged into the office of a senior engineer with Jal Nigam (water supply department) and garlanded him with currency notes accusing him of indulging in corrupt practices.</p>.<p class="bodytext">"I have heard that you take bribe. So this is a currency garland for you," Brajesh Prajapati said as he garlanded M C Srivastava, the superintending engineer. </p>.<p class="bodytext">Prajapati later barged into another office of the department and locked it from outside after driving away the employees saying that they did not do any work.</p>.<p class="bodytext">He also later visited the office of Banda Commissioner Ram Vishal Mishra and asked him to crack down on corruption.</p>.<p class="bodytext">He also took exception to the absence of the pictures of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Dalit icon B R Ambedkar in the commissioner's office.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The MLA justified his act saying that as a public representative it was his duty to ensure the government officials discharge their duty.</p>.<p class="bodytext">"There were allegations of corruption against the engineer and so I garlanded him with currency notes," Prajapati said.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The commissioner, however, said that no one had the right to lock a government office during office time.</p>.<p class="bodytext">"Locking an office is highly improper," Mishra said.</p>
