After due consideration, it has been decided that this year onwards the board will not include Class IX result in grade sheet-cum-certificate of performance of Class X,” the CBSE notified on Monday.

The CBSE has also decided to leave it to the schools the responsibility of issuing certificates to Class X students in co-scholastic areas from the academic session of 2016-17 itself.

“Co-scholastic grades will not be taken. However, school has to upload numerical grade point scored by students in all the co-scholastic areas taken together,” said K K Choudhury, CBSE’s examination controller. The revised provisions will remain applicable to both types of candidates – those taking the school-based board examinations as well as those taking the external board examinations – an official told DH. Under the CCE system, Class IX and X students have to take four summative assessments (SA) - written tests with questions from the syllabus - and eight formative assessments (FA) designed to evaluate competency in co-scholastic areas.
