<p>New Delhi: With <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/narendra-modi">Narendra Modi</a> taking oath as Prime Minister on the same day 11 years ago, Congress on Monday claimed that "undeclared emergency" had turned 11 and the country has been "ruined with the BJP government turning the promise of "achche din(good days)" to a "nightmare".</p><p>Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge posted on 'X' that every section of the 140 crore population has been "troubled". He said, "26 May 2014 -In 11 years, by turning big 'promises' into 'empty claims', the Modi government has ruined the country in such a way that the promise of 'achche din' has now proven to be a 'daravne sapne' (nightmare)."</p><p>"Youth - Promise of two crore jobs annually, in reality crores of jobs have vanished. Farmers - Income did not double, on top of that they had to face rubber bullets. Women - Conditions imposed on reservation, security in tatters. Weaker sections - Horrible atrocities on SC/ST/OBC/Minorities, share ended," he said.</p>.<p>On the country's economy, he said inflation at its peak, unemployment on the rise, consumption at a standstill while 'Make in India' flopping and inequality at its peak.</p><p>"Foreign Policy - Promised to become 'Vishwaguru' but spoiled relations with every country. Democracy - RSS attacks every pillar, misuse of ED/CBI, autonomy of institutions destroyed," he said adding, "every section of 140 crore people is troubled. Today is Undeclared Emergency @ 11." </p><p>In a separate post, Ramesh also attacked Modi over claiming credit on the decision to conduct a Caste Census, by posting videos of him from the last two years criticising the Congress' demand for such an exercise.</p><p>"On April 30, 2025, in the period between the Pahalgam terror attacks and the launch of Operation Sindoor, the Modi government unexpectedly and suddenly announced a caste census. Yesterday, the PM expectedly took full credit for it in the NDA CMs meeting," he said.</p><p>"But just listen to what the PM had said - 1. On October 2, 2023, when the findings of the Bihar caste survey were released. 2.On April 28, 2024, when asked about the Congress’ demands for a caste census,” Ramesh said, tagging the two video clips.</p><p>In the first clip, Modi said the opposition "used to divide the society on the basis of caste and continue to commit that sin even now" while in the second, he has said in an interview that those demanding caste census have an "urban naxal mindset", when asked about Congress' demand.</p><p>At a meeting of NDA Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers, Modi has referred to caste census. A resolution was also passed in which the NDA said it does not believe in caste politics but acknowledges the need for a caste census to bring into the mainstream of development the deprived, exploited, Dalits and others left behind.</p>
