Cops face mob fury after boy dies in custody

At least seven police vehicles, including a van of the station house officer, were damaged during the incident. Some vehicles were also burnt. The police later cane-charged and opened fire to quell the mob.

Hundreds of villagers, including women, gathered outside the police station on Monday after the news of the death of the village youth,  identified as Subash, in police custody spread. The body of Subash was found hanging inside the cell. The villagers alleged that the youth was tortured by the police  following which he died.
