Delhi Assembly Elections 2025 | Ahead of polls, govt departments distance themselves from AAP's promised schemes

The development, which came days after AAP leaders launched the exercise of registering people for the Mukhya Mantri Mahila Samman Yojana and Sanjeevani Yojana with much fanfare, left the AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal furious.

New Delhi: Two Delhi government departments on Wednesday issued public notices distancing themselves from the ruling AAP's promised schemes of providing Rs 2,100 to women and free treatment for the elderly, saying no such schemes exist at present and collection of details on the pretext of enrolling people was "fraudulent and without any authority".

The Department of Women and Child Development issued the notice on AAP's promise of Rs 2,100 per month for eligible women under 'Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana' while the Health and Family Welfare Department raised concerns about the 'Sanjeevani Scheme'.

"The general public are...advised and requested not to entertain such promises of a non-existent scheme, as these are misleading and without any authority. The general public is also advised to exercise abundant caution to not give out personal details to unauthorised personnel to avoid any fraud or breach of data in the future," the two notices said.

AAP supremo and former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced the two poll promises earlier this month and the party volunteers have started registrations for the schemes. The notices came two days after Kejriwal and Chief Minister Atishi launched the registration drive while AAP volunteers are continuing the registration process.

Atishi said the officers who issued the notices will face both administrative and police action, while showcasing the notification on the Cabinet decision on Rs 1,000 per month for women. She said Kejriwal has promised to increase it to Rs 2,100 per month after elections and it would happen.

Kejriwal said the BJP is rattled by the two schemes but people would give a befitting answer to them.

While Atishi said these are Kejriwal's guarantees and under pressure from the BJP, these officers have issued these notices, Kejriwal said it is an AAP promise and its activists would get people registered for the scheme.

BJP IT Cell head Amit Malviya said, "After Arvind Kejriwal’s false claims and fake announcements about the Mahila Samman Yojana and Sanjeevani Yojana were debunked through public notices issued by the Delhi government, he has become unhinged and is resorting to baseless accusations. He knows his facade has crumbled, and AAP is headed for defeat in the upcoming elections."

In its notification, the WCD Department referred to media reports and social media posts about "a political party" claiming to disburse Rs 2,100 per month under a scheme and clarified that "no such scheme has been notified by the government". It said when such a scheme is rolled out, a digital portal would be set up for registration.

It said any individual or party collecting applications or information from applicants under the scheme is "fraudulent and without any authority". It also asked citizens not to share any personal information like bank details and phone numbers.

The Health and Family Welfare Department's notice also shared similar concerns about collection of applications for 'Sanjeevani Scheme'.
