Ex-TDP MP booked for blackmailing woman

Last Updated 28 October 2017, 20:23 IST
Former TDP MP and industrialist Nama Nageswara Rao has been booked for threatening to publish private pictures of a woman for questioning his affair with a former Karnataka MLC.

Jubilee Hills police have booked a case against Rao and his brother Nama Seethaiah under Indian Penal Code sections 506 (criminal intimidation) and 509 (insulting the modesty of a woman).

The woman said in her complaint that she knew Rao since 2013 and he visited her house regularly. She learnt of the allegation that Rao had cheated a former Karnataka MLC promising marriage.

When she questioned him about it in May, Rao allegedly threatened to expose her naked pictures which he
forcibly took by beating her
up.

The woman produced video evidence of her assault and claimed that Rao and his brother Seetaiah made the threat at her house. She also said the ex-MLC had lodged a domestic violence complaint against Rao in New Delhi in 2015.

She spoke to the ex-MLC and was told that Rao was a womanizer and had had many affairs.

“Contents of the complaint, video and photographic evidences are being examined before questioning the former MP,” Jubilee Hills inspector K Purna Chander told
reporters.

A realtor, Rao was among the few richest MPs in the country in the previous Parliament. He filed a counter complaint with the Jubilee Hills police claiming he did not know the woman and it was she who is blackmailing him.
