<p>Girls outshone boys for yet another consecutive year in the Class XII board examinations held by the CBSE.</p>.<p>The board announced the results of the examinations for all regions on Saturday.</p>.<p>Noida's Meghna Srivastava emerged as the country topper in the board examinations, while Anoushka Chandra from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh came second.</p>.<p>As many as seven students grabbed the third slot this year with five of them being girls.</p>.<p>Five among the nine toppers, a list of which was shared by the CBSE, hailed from Uttar Pradesh.</p>.<p>The CBSE conducted the class XII board examinations from March 5 to April 27.</p>.<p>While the overall pass percentage of the students this year went up by 1% over that of the last year, the pass percentage of girls remained much higher than those of the boys.</p>.<p>Girls recorded a pass percentage of 88.31. The percentage of boys passing the examination came at 78.99. Last year, 87.50% girls had passed the Class XII board examinations while the percentage of boys clearing the examination came at 78.</p>.<p>"Girls' pass percentage in the board examinations this year remained higher than those of boys by 9.32%," CBSE spokesperson Rama Sharma said.</p>.<p>Over 11 lakh students had taken the board examinations across the country.</p>.<p>The overall pass percentage of the students this year was pegged at 83.01%. 82.02% CBSE Class XII students had passed last year.</p>.<p>Meghna, who grabbed the top slot by securing 499 marks (99.8%) out of 500, was a student of Step by Step School at Taj Expressway, Noida.</p>.<p>Anouska, who came second by securing 498 marks (99.6%), studied in SAJ School located in Vasundhara, Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh.</p>.<p>Seven students, who grabbed the third slot, had a tie in their total marks. Out of 500, each of them secured 497 (99.4%).</p>.<p>Private school students showed the lowest pass percentage (82.50%) this year, while those of the central government-run Kendriya Vidyalayas registered the highest pass percentage (97.78%), followed by Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (97.07%)</p>.<p>Pass percentage under the Central Tibetan Schools Administration came at 94.82%.</p>.<p>The students from the government-aided schools outperformed those from the government schools in the board examinations.</p>.<p>While 84.48% students of the government-aided schools cleared the examination, the percentage of government school students passing the examination remained at 84.39%.</p>.<p>"The total number of students who scored 90% and above this year came at 72,599.
