Amid paramilitary personnel taking to social media to voice their concerns, a parliamentary panel on Tuesday panned the government for its insensitive attitude and said commanding officers neglect their juniors.

The multiparty panel also said the personnel are forced to perform 16-18 hour duty owing to manpower shortage and they do not even get six hours of uninterrupted sleep a day.

Out of 1,901 Border Out Posts (BOPs) on India-Pakistan and India-Bangladesh borders 1,479 lack basic amenities. Several BOPs do not even have the most essential facilities like provision for filtered drinking water or proper barracks and the committee felt it was inhuman to make them live without a fan in the BOPs.
