Janaushadhi Pariyojana is medium of ‘seva’, ‘rozgaar’: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 7500th Janaushadhi Kendra at North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) in Shillong.

The event took place via video conferencing on March 07.

While addressing the event, PM Modi said, “PM Janaushadhi Pariyojana is being run across the country for poor and middle-income families. This yojana is a medium of 'seva and rozgaar' as it also provides employment opportunities to the youth. As part of the scheme, sanitary pads for girls are available at Rs 2.5.”

“More than 11 crore sanitary napkins sold at Janaushadhi centres. Supplements for pregnant women are also made available under ‘Janaushadh Janani'. With over 1000 Janaushadhi centres being run by women, the scheme empowers them.”
