Dr Renu Jogi, Congress legislator from Kota Assembly constituency and wife of Janata Congress Chhattisgarh (Jogi) chief Ajit Jogi, on Tuesday, said that she is not keen to contest the upcoming Assembly election on the regional outfit JCC(J) ticket.

“I will not contest the polls if the Congress party denies me a ticket,” she told mediapersons after the launch of her book on her husband, at her residence Saugan bungalow.

Renu Jogi said, “I am waiting for the declaration of the final list of candidates by the party. I hope to contest the polls on a party ticket,” she added.

The book on her husband is titled ‘Ajit Jogi-Ankahi Kahani’ (Ajit Jogi-Untold Story).

Commenting on the book, Ajit Jogi said his wife had chronicled their 40-year relationship from being an IAS officer to becoming a political leader.

Liquor burnt

At the same venue, JCC (J) workers, on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, burnt bottles of liquor to mark the party’s protest against sale of liquor by the state government.

JCC (J) supremo Ajit Jogi reiterated his commitment to enforce prohibition if his party was voted to power. The tribal people would be spared initially as liquor is integral to their culture, he said.
