The state government will take a call on whether it can reduce the cess on petroleum products to provide relief to consumers from rising fuel prices, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy said on Monday.
"I will discuss with Finance Department officials on how the state can provide relief from rising fuel prices," Kumaraswamy told reporters in New Delhi.
Kumaraswamy was reacting to a question on whether the state government will reduce the cess as demanded by the BJP.
He also said that state cess on petroleum products in Karnataka was the lowest compared to other states.
He said he also shared the concern of the public over rising prices of fuel.
