<p class="bodytext">The number of Covid positive patients saw a sharp rise on Friday, adding 114 cases to the active count, bringing active cases to 234 in Karnataka. </p>.<p class="bodytext">Another death linked to Covid was recorded on Friday, bringing the confirmed death count to three. </p>.<p class="bodytext">According to the department, a 63-year-old man presented with breathlessness, altered senses and generalised swelling of the body at a private hospital in Mysuru on <br />May 15.</p>.<p class="bodytext">He had comorbidities such as Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) and a chronic lung condition called Bronchiectasis.</p>.<p class="bodytext">He passed away on May 25 due to septic shock with Multiple Organ Dysfunction Syndrome (MODS), acute kidney injury with oliguria (abnormally small amounts of urine), Covid pneumonia with Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) and low sodium levels in the blood.His Covid positive status was confirmed on May 30. </p>.<p class="bodytext">A cumulative of 367 cases have been recorded since the beginning of the year. Of this, 130 have recovered or “discharged,” according to health department data. </p>.<p class="bodytext">Over the past 24 hours, a total of 460 Covid tests have been conducted, including 406 RT-PCR tests and 54 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT).</p>.<p class="bodytext">The state’s positivity rate in the past 24 hours stood at 24.7%, with a case fatality rate of 0.8%. </p>.<p class="bodytext">As of Friday, 11 patients were admitted to hospitals across the state while 223 patients are isolating at home. Hospitalisations include one patient on oxygen support in a government hospital and two in private hospitals. </p>.<p class="bodytext">Seven more are in general wards in private hospitals. One patient has been admitted to the ICU and is on a ventilator in a private hospital. </p>
