18 hurt as bus rams into Nano car

As many as 18 were severely injured when a private bus hit a Tata Nano car before ramming into a tree near Chikkalli on Mysore- T Narsipura road on Thursday. 

Majority of the injured- 15 are bus passengers. They are identified as- Devdas, his wife Rosy, twin daughters Rubeka and Jaresha, aged 14 and residents of Kollegal, Gulshan Bhanu, Madesha, Suman, Rajamma, Bhagya, Jayamma, Nataraj, Mahadeva Swamy, Jayakumar, Sudha Raju, Lakshmamma, Parvati and Nagegowda.  The driver and lone occupant of the car who also suffered injuries in the mishap is identified as Mohammed Ismail of Udayagiri in the city. He is a retired railway employee. He is in a deep state of shock and is undergoing treatment at a hospital.

Lashkar traffic police said the mishap occurred when the private bus- Sachin, coming towards the city from Kollegal hit the oncoming car, after overtaking another vehicle. Soon after hitting the car the bus driver lost control over the steering and rammed into a roadside tree before coming to a halt. While one among the injured was rushed to nearby Rajashekar Medical Foundation, seven were rushed to Cauvery Hospital near Yaraganahalli circle. The remaining 10 are admitted at K R Hospital.  Majority among the injured have suffered head injuries and fractures. They are from Kollegal, T Narsipur and surrounding villages. The bus driver has fled from the scene.

A case has been registered and investigations are on.
