Speaking to reporters, he said the Government is planning to approach at least 800 firms to participate in the event. It would be a forerunner to the Global Investors Meet planned by the State to attract investors in January 2010, he said.
The Mexican government, which partnered the second edition of IT.Biz, has agreed to continue its association for the third edition too, and top business leaders will be invited, Naidu said.
IT quiz
The Government has decided to organise IT quiz not only for rural high school students, but also for engineering students during the event.
For the first time, “innovative awards” will be given to students for 10 best IT models, he said. As many as 65 experts in the field of IT will deliver lectures on various topics, including the effect of economic downturn on the IT industry.
Recruitment drives
The State IT department is also planning to persuade IT companies to conduct recruitment drives and offer at least 1,000 jobs during the event, Naidu said.
The Minister said the Government will soon unveil a new IT policy to attract more investors. Besides, a policy on bio-technology, hardware and the semiconductor sector will also be brought out shortly.
Despite global economic downturn, Karnataka continues to lead all States in the country in software exports, which touched Rs 71,000 crore in 2008-09.
