6 killed, many injured as truck rams into Ganesha procession in Hassan

Hassan: At least six people were killed and several others injured when a goods vehicle rammed into the Ganesha idol procession, at Mosale Hosahalli in Hassan taluk, on Friday night. The condition of five people is said to be critical.

The Ganesha idol immersion procession was being taken out on National Highway 373, on Friday at around 8.30 pm.

It is said a goods truck was plying on the highway, when a motorbike suddenly came across the vehicle. The canter driver tried to avoid hitting the motorbike and hit the road median and ploughed into the procession.

Six people are said to have died on the spot. More than 10 people were seriously injured. The injured have been admitted to Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences in Hassan for treatment.
