Action plans had been chalked out to distribute sites and construct houses for members of SC/ST communities leading a nomadic lifestyle, Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil said.
Chairing a review meeting here on Saturday, he said a taluk-level meeting should be convened to listen to the woes of SC/ST community members in the taluk in the month of January.
He also promised to attend the meeting.
He said that it has been proposed to impart skill training to the educated unemployed youth from the community. A special drive will be carried out pertaining to housing and employment.
Assistant Commissioner Ravichandra Nayak said tahsildars had been directed to identify government land for sites and houses of the SC/ST community members. The earmarking of the land is in progress.
ITDP Officer Hemalatha said that 814 nomadic families have been identified in the district. Measures have been taken up to carry out a survey on education and health standard of the Koraga community members.
The DC also directed social welfare officer to initiate measures to fulfil the demands of Karmika Bhavana in the district.
