Bagina offered to Harangi reservoir

 
The water from the reservoir should not be released to the river unnecessarily, said Harangi Water Consumers Federation President S C Chade Gowda.

He was speaking after offering bagina to Harangi reservoir on be half of the farmers and Water Consumers Federation. Water should be preserved in the reservoir keeping in view  of the summer crops in irrigated land. 

“The reservoirs of Cauvery basin like Harangi, Kabini, Hemavathi, Chiklihole are the backbones of the farmers. In spite of the decrease in rain, the heavy rainfall in the past had raised the water level in the reservoirs bringing smiles on the face of the farmers, Gowda said.

We have offered bagina to the reservoir wishing for a good rainfall and good crops. A delegation comprising local MLA, Water Consumer Co-operative Society and farmers will meet the Minister for Water Resource to release fund for the Consumer Associations, he added.

Federation Vice-president N P Mahadevappa, Director S P Raju and otheres were present.
