Prison officials arrested three people trying to smuggle mobile phones and sim cards into the Parappana Agrahara Central prison in a van transporting meat to the jail. The police seized six mobile phones, sim cards and the van and arrested Suresh Babu, the owner of Raja Mutton Stall in Chamarajpet and his associates Imran Pasha and Rajendra on Friday morning.

Parappana Agrahara police said that Babu, who has been supplying meat to prison for past 10 years, reached the prison on Friday around 12.30 pm. When prison officials stopped the van for checks at the entrance, they found a box attached to the chassis under the driver’s seat. On checking, they found six mobile phones and six SIM cards. “We arrested all the three and seized the mobiles and SIM cards. The phones were basic handsets,” an official said.
