5 men try to force open car door, scare women

A group of five unidentified men terrorised a few young women, who were sitting inside a car, by trying to open the car door on M G Road past midnight on Saturday.

According to the police, the miscreants after an unsuccessful attempt for a few seconds, vanished into the dark. The women rushed to the Cubbon Park police station and lodged a complaint.

The incident occurred near a jewellery showroom near Anil Kumble Circle. The five women had come to MG Road in an SUV for ice cream. The driver parked near the showroom around 11.45 pm and went to get ice cream from a joint next door. A while later, five men, aged between 25 and 30, approached the SUV and tried to force open the door, terrifying the women, DCP (Central) Sandeep Patil told Deccan Herald.

The occupants of the car clicked the photos of the miscreants. One of them had even filmed the act. The victims went to the police station, lodged a complaint and handed over the images and footage.

“We have registered cases under IPC Sections 354D (stalking), 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and 506 (criminal intimidation). We will arrest the culprits soon,” Patil added.

A police team headed by Cubbon Park sub-inspector Kathyayini visited a few outlets and offices on MG Road and questioned persons present on the spot where the incident occurred to dig out the truth.

Rowdy hacked to death

Vinoth, 30, a history-sheeter, was hacked to death by an armed gang at Bagalur Layout under KG Halli police limits on Sunday. Police said that Vinoth was returning home from a birthday party when the gang of around six men, all on bikes, threw chilli powder on his face and attacked him with machetes. Vinoth died on the spot. A senior police officer said that Vinoth was an accused in the murder of Daniel, a rowdy, in 2012.

Motorcyclist killed

A biker was killed in a road accident in Madivala traffic police limits on Saturday night. Harish, 35, was a resident of Begur and used work at a cloth stores.

The accident occurred as Harish crashed his motorcycle into a compound of the house, while returning home. He sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital where he died, the police said.
