The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) will appeal against a 2012 ruling of the High Court that geographical details do not hold good if they are missing in the Bangalore Development Authority’s (BDA) master plan.

Deccan Herald had reported on Friday that village maps, based on which structures built on stormwater drains are being demolished in different parts of the city, are invalid if the geographical details do not match with the master plan. “I learnt about the High Court ruling after reading the newspaper. I have no idea why the BBMP did not appeal against it. We will certainly examine it and go in for appeal,” BBMP Commissioner N Manjunath Prasad said.

He said revenue maps formed the basis for master plans. “Even if the master plans do not reflect the geographical details mentioned in the revenue sketches, revenue maps will be final,” Prasad said.
