Missing out deadlines due to delay in acquisition of land, the Kundalahalli underpass work is expected to be completed by June 2021. Inspecting the progress of work at Kundalahalli junction on Wednesday, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) administrator Gaurav Gupta assured that the land acquisition process will be completed in the next 10 days.

“We have recently got permission to acquire 27 properties and in the next 10-days the acquisition of land will be completed,” Gupta said. He also directed the engineers to take over the required land for the project and complete the work by June 2021. The underpass work is a part of BBMP’s ambitious signal-free corridor project along the Old Airport Road. The civic body, currently, has completed the work on building a retaining wall on both sides and requires the acquisition of land to lay the service roads.

Gupta also visited the work site at the Suranjan Das junction where work is halted due to the shifting of trees. The administrator directed the Deputy Conservator of Forests to translocate the trees at the earliest. He directed the officials to make use of pre-cast box elements and complete the work by September 2021.

The administrator also directed officials to coordinate with traffic police for an alternative traffic plan to divert the traffic and take upbuilding of the retaining wall at the Wind Tunnel junction and complete the work by September 2021. Several BBMP officials and engineers from planning and engineering wings were present during the inspection.
