<p>Bengaluru: The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has received national recognition under the Jal Hi Amrit Scheme for its sewage treatment plants (STPs), winning Rs 103 crore in incentives.</p>.<p>The Union government also awarded the BWSSB's 23 STPs a five-star rating under the Clean Water Credit initiative.</p>.<p>The BWSSB treats approximately 1,450 MLD of wastewater daily through 34 STPs. Bengaluru has been ranked first in Asia for reusing treated water for lake rejuvenation in and around the city.</p>.BWSSB water tariff to be hiked by one paisa per litre, says DKS.<p>The Jal Hi Amrit Scheme evaluates STPs across India, recognising those that uphold high treatment standards. The BWSSB’s incentive grant is the third highest in the country, following Gujarat and Maharashtra.</p>.<p>Among the 30 STPs assessed, 23 received a five-star rating, six received four stars, and one received three stars.</p>.<p>Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, reacting to the recognition, said: "The Brand Bengaluru initiative is committed to making the city a model of sustainability and urban innovation. Our priority is to ensure high-quality sewage treatment through advanced technology. It is immensely gratifying to receive this recognition from the central government."</p>.<p>Board Chairman Ram Prasath Manohar said: "The BWSSB has consistently adhered to international standards in sewage treatment. As the leading city in Asia for treated water reuse, we have spent the last eight months enhancing our STP operations. This incentive will be used to further modernise our STPs and improve water treatment infrastructure."</p>
