<p>Bengaluru: The Madanayakanahalli police, on the outskirts of Bengaluru, have registered a case following a complaint from the mother of a Kannada actor, who alleged that she had been receiving threatening calls.</p><p>The FIR was filed on November 25 under BNS Section 308 (extortion) based on a complaint by Padmalatha D B, whose daughter, Deepika Das, is a popular actor.</p><p>According to Padmalatha, she has been receiving calls from a person identifying himself as Yeshwanth for the past seven months.</p><p>"He (Yeshwanth) claimed that my son-in-law was involved in illegal activities, had cheated people, and was jailed," Padmalatha stated in her complaint. "I told him that if what he said was true, he should take legal action."</p><p>Padmalatha further claimed that the suspect had also contacted Deepika, making similar allegations.</p><p>"When my daughter denied the accusations, he threatened to tarnish our reputation by spreading the news to the media and demanded money," she added.</p><p>The police have initiated an investigation into the matter.</p>
