PSI caught by Lokayukta while taking Rs 2 lakh bribe to file ‘B report’

Bengaluru: A sub-inspector posted at the Chikkajala police station was caught red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs 2 lakh for filing a ‘B report’ in a cheating case, the Lokayukta police said.

Acting on a complaint lodged by one Ravikumar, the Lokayukta police registered a case and laid a trap, arresting PSI Shivanna while he was accepting the bribe money, officials said.

Officials said a cheating case was registered at the Chikkajala police station against Ravikumar. To file a ‘B report’ in the case, Shivanna allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 3 lakh.

Unwilling to pay the bribe, Ravikumar approached the Lokayukta police and lodged a complaint.

Based on the complaint, the Lokayukta police registered a case and conducted a trap operation. As per the plan, Ravikumar placed Rs 2 lakh in cash on Shivanna’s two-wheeler parked near the police station.

When Shivanna came to collect the money, Lokayukta officials caught him red-handed in the presence of witnesses and took him into custody for further investigation.
