Contemporary art grabs attention

In its fifth edition, The Lexicon Art Show, is all set to repeat the success of its previous four editions. The show boasts of the participation of more than 100 veteran as well as young and emerging artists from across the lengths and breadth of the country.

The artists are showcasing some of their unique artworks which have earned them a distinguished identity in the Indian contemporary art fraternity.

Their art has enriched the Indian art tradition and brought accolades from all over the world. And it is because of their efforts that Indian art has now a wider reach and recognition on foreign lands.

Talking to Metrolife, Vijender Sharma, one of the artists, said, “My painting is based on the theme of ‘desire’. It is a symbolic painting which expresses the endless desires and dreams of a human being. It shows how desires of a human being keeps on increasing.”

This edition was divided into four groups based on the innovation of the participating artists and how they have displayed their thoughts on canvas, on rotation basis. The idea of displaying artworks in rotation was introduced in order to maintain novelty all through the duration of the show.

Another artist, Neha Mukhi Pai, said, “I have four paintings on display at the exhibition based on the theme ‘expressions of eyes’. I have also connected these paintings with spirituality. Being a girl myself I also incorporated some of my personal experience on canvas.”

The 16-day exhibition will showcase a different set of paintings and sculptures from different artists every fourth day. Such an arrangement ensures that viewers can enjoy the artworks of every artist, including the new and emerging ones.

The Lexicon Art Show which began on September 6 is on till September 21 at the Ambience Mall, Gurgaon, 11 am onward.
