Corporator accused of trespassing hotel site

Aditya Raheja Group, a realty firm, has accused Shivakumar, an Independent corporator from Shantala Nagar Ward, of trespassing their property and forcefully taking away building materials.

The group is building a five-star hotel next to UB City. It has also taken up reconstruction and widening of a stormwater drain that runs through the property. This had irked the corporator, who allegedly threatened the workers, Aditya Raheja, executive director of the group, told Deccan Herald.

He said Shivakumar’s brother had brought some men to the site a week ago, and had asked the workers to stop work. The company moved the court and obtained a status quo order.

On Wednesday, Shivakumar and his supporters descended on the construction site at midnight, ransacked it and took away some construction materials. They also threatened the workers with dire consequences if they did not stop the work.

Raheja claimed he had lodged a complaint with the Cubbon Park Police, but the cops told Deccan Herald that newspaper they had not received any complaint against the corporator.
