<p>This Sunday, a classical dance production will explore the symbolic connection between the five elements of nature and five iconic women from the ‘Puranas’.</p>.<p>Titled ‘Paridhi: Realm of Prakriti and Panchabhootas’, the Bharatanatyam show will be presented by the Itihasa Foundation, an arts organisation based in Bengaluru.</p>.<p>Vaishnavi Bhat, who has conceptualised the hour-long show and also features in it, says it is a tribute to the belief that every woman embodies the essence of nature. The performance opens with a depiction of the confluence of the five elements — fire, sky, earth, wind, and water. This is followed by solo acts, each portraying a mythological woman who personifies one of these elements: Droupadi as fire, Rohini (the star) as sky, Seeta as earth, Anjana as wind, and Yamuna as water.</p>.<p>The dancers will perform to Sanskrit and Kannada shlokas, with lyrics by Sharath Prabhu and music and vocals composed and rendered by Rohith Bhat.</p>.<p>This performance is part of a monthly series called 'Rasa', hosted by the venue, Medai - The Stage.</p>.<p class="bodytext"><span class="italic">On May 4, 11 am, at Medai — The Stage, Koramangala.
