"The executive Jayaraj (32) has been arrested and a show cause notice issued to Karnataka Chemsyn Limited, located in Jigani, 30 km from here", a police official said.
Efforts are on to trace some other officials of the company who are absconding after having locked the company, police said. The chemical was stated to be prophtyphozone used for manufacturing tablets for headache. On December 29, a chemical spill had triggered a scare after some residents in the affected area felt sick and experienced a burning sensation and irritation in their eyes. Police conducted a search and found seven barrels of a chemical abandoned at an open space adjacent to a railway track at Srirampuram.
