A 66-year-old retired lieutenant colonel had the nightmare of his life when two men allegedly mortgaged his flat with forged documents to take a loan.

Omprakash lodged a complaint of cheating and criminal intimidation at the HAL police station on Saturday naming the two men — Ojha R K and Singh D N.Omprakash had bought the flat in 2005 and has been living there with his family.

On December 14, 2017, Omprakash received a notice from a finance firm asking him to clear the dues or else his property will be confiscated. When a shocked Omprakash checked with the finance firm, it emerged the loan was taken by Ojha and Singh who had submitted the property documents. Omprakash asserted that he was the sole owner of the flat and possessed the original documents, but the firm paid no heed.

Omprakash tried contacting Ojha and Singh about the loan but they remained elusive. Later, when he intensified his efforts to confront them, they reportedly threatened him with dire consequences. Police are carrying out the investigation.
