Errant cop suspended

A constable attached to Byatarayanapura traffic police station was suspended on Friday on the charges of dereliction of duty.

A senior police officer said Venkatesh was suspended for absenteeism and misbehaving with his senior colleagues. He had been warned twice, but he wouldn’t mend his ways, the police said. On several occasions, he was found drunk on duty.

Several police officers had warned him but he did not pay heed to their words. On Thursday, he was deputed for duty in a different area. But when checked, he was found missing. When the officers contacted him on his mobile phone, he spoke in a rude manner. The issue was brought to the notice of top officers, who suspended him and ordered an enquiry, added the police.
