About 10 makeshift grocery shops were gutted in an accidental fire at KR Puram market in the early hours of Saturday.
The incident occurred at around 1 am, spreading rapidly to the 10 shops. Three fire tenders fought the blaze.
Two bikes and material were gutted, resulting in the loss of Rs 5 lakh, fire officials said.
Short circuit is suspected to have triggered the fire. However, traders at the market said a few shopkeepers had lit a mosquito coil and believe that may have triggered the fire.
