With a gloomy weather descending on the city, one has been craving for the sun more than ever. All one wants to do is chill on a beach with a drink in hand.

While it might not be actually possible to head to Goa now, ‘Cafe Mojo’ on St Mark’s Road will truly give one the feel of the coastal belt.

The restaurant has a cool elevator that takes you to the top floor.
Once you reach the top floor, you wait for the elevator door to open but it doesn’t. It might take a while for you to realise that the elevator door has actually opened on the opposite side!

Walk into the hallway of the restaurant and you feel like you have entered a pub in Goa. With unique decor and lively music, it gives one the feel of the old English pub coupled with e-beer system, well lined-up bar and delicious food.

While the restaurant looks cosy and warm, choosing to sit on the high chair for a while might become uncomfortable. However, the food and drinks  might make you forget that. Be prepared to have toasted ‘pav’ on almost all the dishes served to you. Since it is a Goan restaurant, the ‘Chicken cafreal’  is a given.

The chicken cooked in Goan style with coriander and mint flavours offer a good start to the dining experience. The soft and crunchy ‘pav’ balances out the minty flavour that the dish offers.

The ‘Lord of rings’, crumb fried onion rings, come with two dips, each complimenting the appetiser. One can easily wipe the plate clean or not even notice that you are reaching out for the next one.

The ‘Calamari rechado’ is simple as the taste of squid tossed in hot and fiery rechado masala lingers on your palate.

For the fish lovers, the ‘Mackerel fry’ would make you think of home. The perfectly cooked fish is made in a blend of Goan Konkani ‘masala’. But if you want to keep it mellow, the ‘Goan fried chilli chicken’ is a wise choice.

Keeping it simple and flavourful for the main course, the ‘Goan prawns curry’ and ‘Cottage cheese peri peri’ are a delicious combination. It does fill one’s stomach but still leaves enough room for desserts.

The ‘bebinca’, a traditional Goan dessert, is just the perfect way to end the meal.
The layered cake made with coconut milk, eggs, butter and flour, becomes a playful part of the meal when you might struggle to hold them all together on a spoon.
But it’s alright if you have them one layer at a time — the sweet, but not-too-sweet-dessert, will leave you licking the sugar syrup off your
fingers.

‘Cafe Mojo’ is located at 20, 2nd Floor, Vasavi Complex,
St Mark’s Road.
