Help this 4-year-old

A speeding earth mover hit a parked two-wheeler which fell on his left leg, and dragged him for over 100 meters even as his parents and grandparents watched in horror. It was 4.30 pm, at Madanayakanahalli on Tumkur Road, time and place which Karthikan wouldn’t forget in his lifetime.

Karthikan had sustained severe crush injury and loss of entire flesh and skin of the leg on left side damaging blood vessels, nerves, bones and muscles and tendons. After the initial treatment at a local hospital, Karthikan was brought to HOSMAT here at around 8.15 pm on Sunday. 

Doctors found that the patient had lost flesh and skin over the front and back portion of the foot, muscles of the front portion of the foot, was crushed badly and great toe was also severely crushed. The bones of leg, ankle joint and toes were exposed. After the wound debridement and initial surgery, plastic surgeon Dr N K Deepu did a micro vascular muscle transfer to save Karthikan’s limb.
