Hoax bomb scare at Chandapura market

A suspicious leather bag containing materials which looked like a bomb sent the people into a tizzy at Chandapura market under Hebbagodi police limits on Saturday night.

According to police, shoppers at the market noticed a leather bag lying unattended. A few youths checked the bag and found a material looking similar to a bomb. They alerted the local police at 7.30 pm. However, bomb disposal squad and dog squad were stuck in traffic and could reach the spot only by 9 pm.

After a close examination, the bomb disposal squad concluded that the object was a fake bomb. It was made of small iron rod and glass pieces with a calculator attached to it, police said.

A senior police officer at the spot said that some miscreants had played a mischief. The whole area was cordoned off and a massive search was conducted for any suspicious material. Hebbagodi police have registered a case.
