A constable’s wife has alleged that an unidentified bike-borne man brandished a pistol at her while she was walking with her friends in Chamarajpet on.
December 6. Her claim prompted the VV Puram police to take up a case under the Arms Act.
Shasikala, 35, is the wife of Sachin, a constable attached to the Upparpet police station. Sachin had earlier worked at the Central Crime Branch (CCB), police said.
According to the police, the incident happened around 3.30 pm on Thursday near the compound of BOSCO Mane, an NGO. Shasikala was studying to be a beautician in Chamarajpet. She was headed to the institute for her class when a biker sided up to her and brandished a pistol.
The police analysed the CCTV footage, which showed a biker slowing down close to the women, but it was not clear if he held a pistol or not.
“However, we have taken the case seriously and have obtained certain clues about the bike and its rider, and investigations are underway,” DCP Annamalai, South Division, told DH.
