'I'm still arriving in Bollywood'

The film industry is all about taking a chance and that’s exactly what actress Sayali Bhagat did when she signed a film like ‘Ghost’. Fresh out of a controversy, Shiney Ahuja was cast opposite her.

But that didn’t matter to Sayali as she saw this as a great opportunity to do a different film. And as luck would have it, the movie worked in her favour.

“Playing a lead in a horror movie like ‘Ghost’ was a huge risk. But I wanted to take the chance as I believed in the script and now that the film has done well and gotten money, I’m happy as now I can be a ‘bankable actor’,” says Sayali, who was in the City recently for a fashion week.

The former Miss India says walking the ramp as a showstopper brings back memories of her modelling days. “I remember being in the line up, looking up to the showstopper and wondering when I will get to be one,” she laughs.

Currently, Sayali has her hands full with two new Bollywood projects. The one that has her most excited is ‘This Weekend’. “It is an action thriller directed by Tinu Verma and has Arjun Sarja and Rajneesh Duggal,” she reveals. Playing a fighter in the film, the actress has gotten a lot of advice from the ‘Action King’ himself. “I am really happy to be working opposite a star like Arjun Sarja. I even underwent a 40-day-long workshop where I had to train for various stunts. But he told me to just relax and do it naturally,” she adds.

‘Rajdhani Express’ is another film that Sayali will be seen in. The movie has been touted as Leander Paes’ debut film. “Leander seems like such a natural in front of the camera. I feel I am lucky to have gotten movies with such biggies,” she adds.

So does this mean Sayali has finally arrived in Bollywood? “I wouldn’t really say that I have ‘arrived’. Instead I would like to say that I am still arriving in Bollywood,” she sums up.
