The Rajajinagar police on Friday arrested a man who allegedly duped many people by posing as a railway official. Police said he had pocked money from them by promising jobs.

Arun Kumar, of Shankar Mutt, was arrested based on a complaint filed by Komala, of Ramanagaram, who was duped of Rs 2.5 lakh. Kumar also allegedly duped a woman of Rs 7 lakh by promising her son a job in the railways.

The Rajajinagar police had received complaints against Kumar, but he managed to convince his victims to withdraw the complaints by promising to return their money. He never kept his word and continued to dupe more people.

Kumar had introduced one Vidyashree as his wife. When complainants checked with her, she denied having any relationship with him, police said.
