India Post releases special covers

India Post released special postal cover to mark ‘Universal Health Coverage Day’ here on Wednesday.

December 12 is the anniversary of the first unanimous United Nations resolution calling for all nations to provide affordable quality healthcare to their citizens.

On the occasion, Rathan Kelkar, director, National Health Mission (NHM) spoke about the state and Central health schemes — Aarogya Karnataka and Ayushman Bharat — which have been merged, and how the people of Karnataka can benefit from it.

Compared to a few years ago, the infrastructure to provide basic health facilities to the people has improved a lot, Om Prakash Patil, the additional director, NHM, said.

He said the health scheme had been efficiently implemented across the state.

The special cover released on the occasion can be obtained from philatelic bureaus or the nearest head post offices.
