<p>Bengaluru: The government of Karnataka has allocated Rs 2,190 crore for Namma Metro in the 2025-26 budget. </p><p>Unlike his last budget speech, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah did not announce any new metro lines, except the extension to Devanahalli. </p><p>He said that the Namma Metro network would increase by 98.6 km in two years. Its present length is 76.95 km. </p><p>There is still no word on when the state government would approve the increase in the cost of Phase 2, from Rs 30,695 crore to Rs 40,614.27 crore. </p><p>While the BMRCL has received all the approved external funding (senior debt) of Rs 12,141.14 crore for Phase 2, the additional cost (Rs 9,919.27 crore) will be mostly borne by the state government, according to a person familiar with the matter. </p>.Karnataka Budget: Rs 5,300 cr allocated for free bus scheme; tax breaks also likely.<p>In 2024-25, Karnataka allocated Rs 1,435 crore for Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL). </p><p>In the upcoming financial year, Karnataka expects to receive Rs 1,717.62 crore from the government of India. Of this, Rs 517.62 crore is for Phases 2, 2A and 2B, and the rest for Phase 3. The Centre had given it Rs 4,814.58 crore in 2024-25. </p><p>Siddaramaiah promised that the 148-km Bengaluru Suburban Railway Project (BSRP) would be implemented in a time-bound manner. He said tendering for the remaining two corridors would be completed soon. </p><p>The deadline for the Rs 15,767-crore project is December 2028.</p><p>The state has allocated Rs 500 crore for the BSRP (Rs 250 crore in equity and Rs 250 crore for debt repayment).
