A 27-year-old aspiring model from Bengaluru has accused her live-in partner of cheating her on false promise of marriage.

In a complaint filed with the Sadashivanagar police, the woman said that her friend Ullas Patel who works as a project engineer at a private firm in Yeshwantpur proposed to her eight months ago.

Both met through Facebook. She had told everyone in her family that Patel had promised to marry her. Later, the duo started living together. After two months,  he started distancing himself from her, the complainant said.

When the woman confronted Patel, he told her that members of his family were opposing their marriage and, prolonged it stating he would get their permission. Later, Patel started avoiding her.

He also started accusing her of loose character and running an escort service, as an excuse to end the relationship. The woman also tried approaching Patel’s family but they refused to help her.

She then approached the police and lodged a complaint. The Sadashivanagar police have registered a case of rape and cheating on false promise of marriage, against Patel.
