Newly inducted HM M B Patil meets police top brass

The newly inducted Home Minister, M B Patil, held a meeting with senior police officials on Tuesday. The senior officers apprised Patil on the law and order situation in the state.

As he is new to the portfolio, the home minister wanted to know about the broader functions of the home department. Senior officials including the Director General of Police, Neelmani N Raju, Home Secretary, Rajneesh Goel, City Police Commissioner, T Suneel Kumar along with other senior police officials attended the meeting that was held at the Vidhana Soudha.

The minister urged the police force to take stringent action against elements who take law into their hands, and not to spare anyone considering their background, especially to ensure a peaceful general election ahead this year.

The police officials briefed the home minister about the prevailing situation, and the measures they have taken to maintain law and order, crime prevention and traffic management.

M B Patil also asked the officers to focus on Bengaluru's traffic, which is a burning issue and sought measures towards improvement.
