Assignment marks are likely to be taken into account for the score in the annual examination. <br /><br />A committee was formed for this purpose last month. The details would be finalised by May, he added. <br /><br />The syllabus is being redesigned and the textbook committee is taking care of it, he explained. But students who fail to pass the exam this time need not worry. They would get a few attempts to write it again, Devaprakash said. <br /><br />8.26 lakh candidates<br /><br />As many as 8.26 lakh students — 7.63 lakh freshers, 41,269 repeaters and 21,670 private candidates — will write the SSLC exam this year from March 28 to April 9. There are 3,016 designated examination centres across the State. <br /><br />Of them, 163 centres have been identified as ‘sensitive’ and 51 ‘hypersensitive’. The board will put in place stringent measures to ensure smooth conduct of exams. <br /><br />On Tuesday, Commissioner for Public Instruction Mohammed Mohsin launched a helpline ahead of the exams. Students can call the helpline to get their doubts, if any, cleared by the subject experts. The helpline will also help them in addressing other concerns pertaining to the examination. <br /><br />The evaluation of SSLC answer scripts will begin on April 19, instead of the earlier scheduled date of April 14, on account of the general elections. Results are likely to be announced in May.</p>
