Petition on speed governors disposed of

The High Court on Monday disposed of a petition filed by a Bengaluru-based advocate seeking installation of speed governors in school buses in the City.

The Division Bench comprising Chief Justice D H Waghela and Justice Ram Mohan Reddy disposed of the petition after government counsel Swetha Krishnappa submitted that steps had been taken to ensure the safety of children in school buses.

“The government has issued 18 guidelines to ensure the safety of schoolchildren travelling by buses. The transport department as well as the Education department are monitoring the implementation,” she informed the Bench and sought time to get further details.

The Bench disposed of the matter by giving liberty to the petitioner to approach the court in case there was a dereliction in the implementation of the government guidelines.
